TALKS

Vegetation and mobility measures for reducing air and noise pollution at preschools
Ågot Watne, PhD and Researcher/expert in Air Quality, IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute

Children are particularly vulnerable to adverse health effects from air pollution and noise exposure. Assessments indicate that the environmental objectives for air quality and noise are exceeded at roughly 15-25 % of the Gothenburg preschools. However, sufficient knowledge, strategies and methods meet the set goals are missing today. In order to facilitate healthy environment at preschools, air and noise abatement measures needs to be further developed. We will present preliminary results from the on-going project on the suggested mobility and vegetation measures as well as the measurement strategy. By presenting the project at this early stage we hope to include relevant knowledge and experience from researchers within GAC in the future work.
