Acting for sustainability through knowledge and collaboration

The core task of Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development (GMV) is to create and facilitate cooperation, between and within Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg, with an aim to generate and practically implement knowledge about sustainable development. In order to develop solutions to global challenges, we bring academic disciplines together to create new knowledge. Moreover, practical implementation of knowledge requires collaboration between academia and other actors in society. To this end, we create meeting places and bring together different types of expertise in order to promote sustainable development within research, education and cooperation.

  • Save the Date for Act Sustainable 2021

    [10 May 2021] The sustainability week Act Sustainable is here again! Book November 15¿19 in all your calendars, Chalmers University of Technology's and the University of Gothenburg's sustainability week is back. Once again students, researchers, teachers, and other staff at the universities will have a whole week packed with inspiration, research, and knowledge for sustainable development. If the situation allows, the event will be arranged with physical meetings right here in Gothenburg.

  • Virtual Reality Studio in Dhaka creates playground for community - a Global Sustainable Futures webinar

    [28 Apr 2021] Since the 1990's, architectural students at Chalmers have had the opportunity to apply for a master course called Reality Studio, which has included every year a several weeks long field trip to East Africa, and in recent years most often to Kisumu in Kenya. However, as the pandemic made travelling impossible, the organisers have had to re-define the course.

  • University of Gothenburg in global top 50 for sustainability

    [26 Apr 2021] The University of Gothenburg has taken the 49th spot in the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking of the world's universities based on alignment with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. This is four places lower than last year, but a record number of institutions took part this time: 1,115 compared with 766 in the previous ranking.
