Acting for sustainability through knowledge and collaboration

The core task of Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development (GMV) is to create and facilitate cooperation, between and within Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg, with an aim to generate and practically implement knowledge about sustainable development. In order to develop solutions to global challenges, we bring academic disciplines together to create new knowledge. Moreover, practical implementation of knowledge requires collaboration between academia and other actors in society. To this end, we create meeting places and bring together different types of expertise in order to promote sustainable development within research, education and cooperation.

  • Pam Fredman Acting Director of GMV

    [12 May 2022] The University of Gothenburg's former Vice-Chancellor Pam Fredman has been appointed Acting Director of the Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development (GMV). Pam is since October 2021 leading a project reviewing GMV mission and assignment and will now also lead the organisation's ongoing operations as Acting Director until the end of the year.

  • The project to change GMV continues with dialogues

    [12 May 2022] A project to redefine the mission for Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development (GMV) has been ongoing since October 2021. The President at Chalmers and the Vice-chancellor at University of Gothenburg decided at that point to start a process with the aim of developing GMV's role and function. The aim is to be able to carry out a more well-defined collaborative task. A clearer assignment is now being developed by the project group together with the steering group in dialogue with affected partners.

  • Open now: Call for contribution for Act Sustainable Research Conference, November 15-17 2022

    [12 May 2022] All researchers, PhD-students and teachers at Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg are now welcome to submit their proposals to Act Sustainable Research Conference organized on November 15-17 as part of the Act Sustainable week. The overall theme of the conference is "Sustainability in times of declining democracy and increasing polarization: What knowledge and actions do we need? The call lists a number of subthemes inspired by the overall theme of the conference, but all contributions that strengthen our overall knowledge about challenges and opportunities for sustainability transformations are welcome. You can contribute with a talk, poster presentation, pitch of a research idea and host a roundtable discussion.
