The University of Gothenburg, as part of the International Association of Universities (IAU) and its Higher Education and Research for Sustainable Development (HESD) Cluster, has been asked to take a lead specifically on goal 8. Every goal has its lead university, resulting in a global network of universities coordinating different goals. Read more about the IAU HESD clusters on the IAU website

The University of Gothenburg has initiated a “SDG 8 Team” including different parts and persons from the university. The SDG 8 Team also includes participation from eight satellite universities. The strategic goal of the SDG 8 team is to engage and support a global community of researchers and practitioners to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all. This is done by transdisciplinary, applied action research and policy interaction that focus on solutions to growth and work related challenges through collaboration among researchers and practitioners in local and global contexts. The ambition is to mobilize academic work and policy interaction in support of sustainable economic growth with good conditions for employees.
At present, thematic work is carried out, with the aim of resulting in discussion papers, seminars, an international conference at the end of August 2021, and research-to-policy dialogue during the second half of the year. If interested in participating or collaborating, please don´t hesitate to get in touch.
