Act Sustainable: Researchers Roundtable for Sustainability

Workshop, Research profile seminar

Is action research the way forward to strengthen utilization and contribute to sustainable transformations?
This roundtable discussion for researchers and teachers at Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg is introduced by Hilary Bradbury, founder of the NGO AR+ Foundation, and jubilee professor at Chalmers during 2018, who will introduce the concept of action research and explain how and why she believes the world needs more of it.

"Action research is an evolution in knowledge creation, and I believe it is transforming academia and those who do it"

This is one of many quotes from professor Hilary Bradbury, who has devoted much of her academic career towards promoting action research. In 2008 she funded the NGO AR+ Foundation*, and in 2018 she was appointed a jubilee professor at Chalmers working to connect action researchers from different disciplines and with the global community. At this Roundtable for Sustainability Hilary will introduce the concept of action research and explain how and why she believes action research can contribute to sustainable transformations.

The talk by Hilary will be followed by short presentations from researchers based at Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg with own experience in action research. Last but not least all participants will be invited to join a table to critically discuss if and how action research can be a way forward. Warmly welcome.
