On January 25, Jan Rosvall, professor emeritus University of Gothenburg and Chalmers, and Salvatore Lorusso, professor emeritus from the University of Bologna, were invited to discuss their experience of sustainable development.
Around 35 people came to Vera’s Gräsmatta to listen to the long experience of the professors emeritus. Among these were researchers, students and practitioners interested in sustainability challenges, with considerable experience themselves. In the auditorium there were also some of the professors’ former PhDs.
The seminar put focus on the role of art and properties in relation to sustainable development. The guests discussed different perspectives on sustainable conservation of cultural heritage properties. Professor Lorusso posed the question: “how can art, understood in the sense of cultural and environmental heritage, intervene as a means of sustainability?”.
Regarding the work of organisations in general and universities in particular on sustainable development, professor Rosvall said that "we need people that are engaged, well-informed and have energy to do things".
The seminar was moderated by Dr. Ylva Norén Bretzer, University of Gothenburg and Mistra Urban Futures, and organised by Mistra Urban Futures and the Gothneburg Centre for Sustainable Development (GMV). In the mingle following the seminar, previous PhDs and students got the chance to reunite.
