Student officer wanted to the Student Sustainability Hub at Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development, GMV

Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development is now looking for a student officer to work within the Student Sustainability Hub. The Student Sustainability Hub gathers, coordinates and supports student initiatives and activities focused on sustainable development. The hub is open for all students at Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg. We aim to create cross-disciplinary platforms and activities for students where you can exchange knowledge and learn more about sustainable development. Our activities are hosted for, by and with students at both universities.

Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development is a collaborative organisation between Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg. The core task is to promote research, education, and cooperation within the field of sustainable development. GMV operates as a platform to initiate, administrate, and support multidisciplinary projects and efforts within sustainable development. The mission is to create collaboration within the two universities, while also including important societal actors to generate and utilize knowledge for sustainable development. GMV is the host of research networks, student collaboration, interaction between research and policymaking, the University of Gothenburg’s environmental management system, as well as several other projects and networks. About 45 people are working at GMV and the office is located at Chalmers, Campus Johanneberg.

Tasks

We are currently looking for a student officer to be a part of and develop the student activities within the framework of the Student Sustainability Hub. The Student Sustainability Hub gathers the centre's efforts and activities for students and hosts activities for and by students at Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg to increase knowledge about and inspire students to take action sustainable development. Examples of activities are events, seminars, communication campaigns and the two universities annual joint sustainability week Act Sustainable.

The position entails being a part of all parts of the Student Sustainability Hubs activities and the following work tasks may occur: project management, participation in relevant meetings and forums, communication-related efforts, meeting and event planning, administrative and operative tasks. There is some room for flexibility, and we encourage you to, in your application, specify new or already existing fields, projects and/or activities you would want to work with or develop further.

You will work closely with the project manager for the Student Sustainability Hub and other colleagues at GMV. You will also work closely with students and other parts at both Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg. When working at GMV you will be a part of a workplace with great commitment and interest in sustainable development. You are expected to have good social abilities want to collaborate with others. You also need to be able to structure your work

Qualifications:

Applicants to this position must be enrolled as a full-time student, at least at bachelor’s level with expected graduation or planned end of studies after December 22. It is desirable that you are enrolled at either Chalmers University of Technology or the University of Gothenburg and that your field of studies is related to sustainable development. We are looking for a student officer who has a great interest in sustainable development and have good knowledge of the field. We believe that you are creative, motivated and can work in a structured manner, with a good understanding and good collaboration skills.

You should also have:
- Experience and knowledge of working with questions related to sustainable development – either by voluntary work or work experiences
- Profound verbal and written skills in English. English writing and speaking skills
- Experience in planning and arranging different types of meetings and events

Other valuable experiences and knowledge areas:
- Experience with working with social media or other communication-related work
- Experience in working with student-focused activities
- Good knowledge of student associations and student unions in Gothenburg
- Experience with project management

Personability traits will be highly valued

The position

The position is a temporary assignment until December 2022 with 20% of a full-time position. The position is located at Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development, GMV. You will begin as soon as possible, by agreement. The title of the position is Administrative Assistant.
