Research - Policy Interaction

Implementation of Research Findings and Provision of Knowledge

Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development provides courses, lectures and coaching for researchers who want to contribute to influencing decision makers with their research for several years. The focus is on decision making in the state and municipality.

For example, it may be about having knowledge of decision making and current policy processes, dialogue with decision makers during the research process or researching with other actors. These experiences come from, among other things, centers and joint ventures coordinated by Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development, such as SDSN Northern Europe and Focali where much of this type of work is done in practice.

Guide to collaboration in the research process

Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development has developed the guidance material Stakeholder interaction in research processess in collaboration with Lund University. The guide provides a brief knowledge overview and contains questions, advice and models to use for researchers and research groups who want to strategically involve and communicate with different stakeholders. The content of the guide is based on the results of a research project investigating how environmental and climate researchers interact with stakeholders and how it affects the research process and the ability to reach results to non-university actors. The guide is a living document and we are welcome to receive comments.

Courses within interaction research policy

Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development provides courses with researchers and research groups as target groups. This includes the PhD course From research to policy for sustainable development which is a 3+3 days course that runs annually in the spring. The course is open for students at Chalmers University of Technology (please contact genericskills@chalmers.se) and for students enrolled in the ClimbEco research school. We also tailor-make courses for research groups in different contexts and regions, including Sweden, Asia and Africa.

Please contact us with questions and input

Please contact us if you have any questions. We would also like to have contact with researchers with their own experience in the field. For our courses, we want to learn about the researcher's working methods and experience in dealing with these issues. Perhaps you can be a guest lecturer at future courses?
