Supporting students

Network for involved students

There is a number of different sustainability related student organisations at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers. Most of them are associated to the different student unions in the city.
The organisations arrange different activities, such as lectures, workshops, movie screenings, debates, bike days, study visits and much more. They also work to improve the universities sustainability efforts in different ways by being part of campus development and working for integrating sustainability into all education programs.

As part of our mission, we coordinate an informal network for students involved in different student-led sustainability oriented organisations, projects and groups. The network meets once a month to discuss potential collaboration projects and exchange knowledge. The network is open for student-led, not-for-profit, projects and organisations at the two universities that are working with any of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Are you running an organisation or project and want to join the network? Contact us! You find our contact details at the end of this page.

The following projects and organisations are currently members in the network:

The student organisations are happy to welcome new students to join the organisations! By joining a sustainability organisation, you can make a change for a better world, acquire project management skills, communications skills and group dynamics, have lots of fun and of course make new friends! If there is no student organisation on your faculty we are happy to help you start one

Event and activities

Act Sustainable – the sustainability week at Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg.

All students at Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg are welcome to Act Sustainable every year. The week aims to inspire students and staff at the two universities to take action for sustainable development. The week takes place each fall. Read more about Act Sustainable here

Students as sustainability coordinators

To increase the student perspective in the university's sustainability work there are students employed as part of the environmental management system team. These student employees have over the years worked with tasks related to sustainability labelling of courses and programs, the university's travelling policy, environment audit and the sustainability week Act Sustainable. The concept is inspired by the international Green Office model where students become an active part in the sustainability work by being employed by the university. When we have available positions we advertise these on www.gu.se or in our social medias.
