Looking for Collaboration and Interest in Global issues - Low and Middle Income Countries

News: Oct 02, 2020

Starting early October, Global Sustainable Futures (GSF) will explore the two universities for existing collaborations and interests in future collaborations with partners in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). Both Chalmers and University of Gothenburg are committed to strengthen such collaborations for mutual learning, on the road towards Agenda 2030.

“Global sustainable development cannot truly be achieved without strong and long-lasting partnerships with LMICs and by building partnerships we hope to contribute not only to SDG 17 but to all SDGs as they are all inter-linked”, says Daniela Michael, project leader at Global Sustainable Futures.

“The current mapping builds on previous surveys at both universities”, explains Daniela. “We have identified some common interests and needs but wish to further strengthen and promote such partnerships and joint collaboration as well as inspire more to take action”.

Initially, some 300 researchers, teachers, deans, prefects and others at the two universities will be invited to take part in the survey.

“Of course, we also wish to raise awareness about GSF and what we have to offer by engaging in a dialogue about shared interests”, says Magdalena Eriksson, Platform Leader of GSF. “We are proud that Global Sustainable Futures has been granted the responsibility by both rectors to play this important and active role. The results from the survey will be presented in a format that can be useful for all, students as well as university management.”

Global Sustainable Futures was formed in early 2020 by the rectors at Chalmers and University of Gothenburg, Stefan Bengtsson and Eva Wiberg. It is located at the Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development. Through webinars, networking and thematic working groups, GSF supports the development of both new and existing collaboration as well as an increased exchange of knowledge, experiences and good practices.

If you have ongoing collaboration and/or interests and ideas in relation to Low- and Middle-Income Countries and sustainable development and wish to participate, please contact us and you will be invited to join our survey and one of our dialogue meetings during October-November!
